Dear ASMC,

My name is Ayshah Alahmari, and I am a graduate student under the direction of Dr. Steve Mertens in the Master’s degree program in the School of Teaching & Learning at Illinois State University. I am conducting a research study to explore parents’ perspectives about education services offered to their children with autism, and to examine the level of parental satisfaction regarding their student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The results of the study will be used to examine ways that both parents and educators can improve IEP meetings to better serve students with autism.

Since the research is focusing primarily on parents of school age children with autism (K-12 students) who attend schools in Central Illinois, I am seeking your help to reach a large number of parents of children with autism. I will keep all the data I collect completely confidential, and I will not use any school’s name nor any parents or their students’ names in any research report. Any information that I present will not be linked to any personal information that could be used to identify individual students. I am confident that I have taken the necessary steps to ensure that my research will be conducted in ways that meet ethical standards. This is the link of my survey, including the consent letter, which I wish to reach all parents/guardians of children with autism.
