Recreational Grant

Purpose: A primary purpose for ASMC is for individuals with autism is to obtain access to the community.  In an attempt to provide support to the families and individuals, we would like to offer a limited stipend.  This money could be used for any of the purposes listed. 
  • Total Stipend Budget: $1,000 annually running June to June, with rollover up to $1,500
  • No Financial Qualifications
  • Stipend Limit: $150.00 per family per year
  • Increments: May be anywhere from $25.00-$150.00
Qualifying Uses:
Any specific activity that will allow the individual with autism further access to activities outside of the home and in the community.
Activities can include but are not limited to:
  • Recreational Activities
  • Sporting Events
  • Memberships to clubs
  • Tuitions (parks activities, swimming, camps, leagues, gymnastics, etc.)
 Community Access Examples
  • Movies
  • Bus Passes
  • Bowling
  • Museum
  • Restaurants
  • Attending Sporting Events
  • Participating in School Activities
Stipend monies may be used to hire additional aide to escort the individual with Autism to the activities whether it be alone or with the entire family.
Requirements:
  • Specific activity must be identified and a summary of how this will benefit the individual with Autism.  General requests for funds not tied to a specific event will be denied.
  • Stipends for ASMC activities will be approved by the appropriate program director.  Stipend/Grant requests for non-ASMC activities require full Board of Directors approval.
Activity Report: Must include how the money was used, how it benefited the individual and receipts (if receipts are not submitted, the family cannot request money again in the next fiscal year).
 
Must be a member of the Autism Society of McLean County, unless this is a school based stipend enabling an individual to join group activities associated with the school based program (select JOIN ASMC for membership information and to read about other benefits).
